The Faugères Grande Réserve de Schiste is the purest expression of the minerality of the shale soil in Faugères. It is produced in very limited quantities and only in the best years.
Grape varieties: Produced from our best vineyard "Bouzigues", predominantly by Mourvèdre.
Yield: Very low yield of 20 hectoliters per hectare on average.
Vinification: Very long maceration with manual punching down for 4 to 5 weeks.
Ageing: Aged three years, mainly in terracotta amphora, partly in French oak barrels.
Taste: A wine with incredible deepness, marked by an profound elegance and minerality. We recommend opening the bottle at least two hours before and using large wine glasses.
With food: The Faugères Grande Réserve de Schiste matches beautifully with fine meats dishes, in particular calf and beef.
Drinking window: We suggest to enjoy the Grande Réserve within a period of 12 years.
